ISKME's Local & Global Impact in 2017

This year ISKME celebrates fifteen years of local and global impact. From working with local students and educators, to partnerships with international consortia, we strive each day to connect, learn, and bring value to our world while strengthening access, equity, and inclusion in teaching and learning. We'd like to share a few of our most inspiring projects of 2017 with you:

  • Nationally, we strengthened OER Adoption in the U.S. at 10 #GoOpen Summits and 5 new Microsites & Hubs (Michigan, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Washington, Wisconsin).
  • We established new OER partnerships in K-12 and Higher Ed with OpenStax and NAACP.
  • Internationally, we partnered with ALECSO in 22 countries throughout the Middle East; with UNESCO on their ICT Competency Framework for Teachers implemented in 22 countries; and with the Organization of American States in 16 Caribbean countries.
  • We advanced our research around Deeper Learning & OER
  • Locally, we trained high school students in design-thinking, enabling them to strengthen communication between teachers and students at their school.
  • Our OER Commons digital public library and collaboration platform won an award for Best Website for Teaching & Learning by the American Association of School Libraries.
  • And just for fun, we worked together as a team to install a Little Free Library as a way to promote book sharing in our local communty.

Please support our work to ensure that learners everywhere have access to high-quality education and that educators have the support they need to thrive as teachers.
