Senior Research Associate

ISKME is seeking a full-time Senior Research Associate to join our team of researchers, educators, and digital library creators, to develop, manage, and implement research grants and applied research projects. This position will focus on the continuous improvement of K-20 teaching and learning through open technologies, and open pedagogies and practices. Reporting to the VP, Research and Development, the individual in this position will ensure that our research reflects the values of ISKME, including addressing the diverse needs of users in the field of open education. As an education nonprofit, ISKME is a mission-driven organization with the goal of making learning and knowledge-sharing more participatory, equitable, and open. Primary Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively across ISKME teams to identify, write, and conceptualize research grants and contract proposals that align to ISKME priorities

  • Managing the full lifecycle of research projects once awarded, both small and large—from research design, to data collection, to analysis, to funder reporting and dissemination, timelines and deliverables

  • Writing and presenting research findings through field-facing toolkits, peer reviewed articles, and white papers

  • Interfacing with project funders, clients, other researchers, and the field at large around ISKME’s research and work

  • Planning and facilitating workshops and subject matter expert convenings around research projects and findings

  • Managing research contractors and consultants, and providing oversight on their work and deliverables

Skills and background

  • Extensive knowledge of the K-20 education context

  • Experience with and knowledge of open education, which may include the domains of open technologies, librarianship, metadata, digital content curation, open access, and other topics related to developing the open library of the future, including through an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens.

  • Strong writing skills. Experience in writing proposals, creating written synthesis of qualitative and quantitative findings into client and funder-facing reports, journal articles and practical toolkits

  • Strong project management skills, including holding team members accountable to project deadlines and tracking competing or complex action items

  • Demonstrable track record of publishing academic research and completing and supervising multi-year research-based projects

  • 7+ years of social science research experience, Ph.D., or other terminal degree in education or social sciences. Combination of quantitative and qualitative research skills preferred, and/or project management experience across both.
